BLAINE COUNTY JAIL

The New Blaine County Jail and Sheriff’s Office project is in response for the County’s need to replace their overcrowded and outdated facility located on the Courthouse grounds. Jail construction projects in Oklahoma are more sensitive than in the past as the Jail Inspection Division of the OSDH has become more stringent on the interpretation of their State Jail Guidelines, especially for new facilities. The design solution proposed to the Blaine County Officials is a 15,000 square foot, eighty-four bed facility that includes a new Sheriff’s Office, multipurpose arraignment space, secure evidence storage, enclosed sally-port at the booking intake, laundry and kitchen spaces sized for future expansion, trustee pod, four 24-hour isolation cells, and a main detention area for 56 male and 20 female inmates. The modern security and access control systems are designed to minimize staff as all camera and door operations are monitored and controlled from a central control tower that also has full visual access to the main detention areas. The project is currently within the budget and production is on schedule to be completed this fall. Once constructed, the County will have a modern facility that is designed to be compliant, reliable, durable, and adaptable for many decades.
